How to Make

  1. Take a cardboard tube and cut a hole approximately an inch long into the top of it. Then cut a slit either side of the hole, lengthways along the tube, about two inches long. Cut another two slits nearer the back of the tube, this time about 1 inch long.
  2. Cover the cardboard tube in blue paint, adding another coat of paint if necessary. Leave to dry.
  3. Take a sheet of blue card and place the end of the tube onto it, and draw around it with a pencil. Then cut out the circle using scissors. Then cut a propeller shape out of red card and attach it to the centre of the blue circle using a split pin.
  4. Using the glue gun, add some glue to the rim of the end of the cardboard tube, then place the blue card circle onto it, holding in place until it is stuck.
  5. Take a sheet of red card and cut a strip across the width approximately two inches wide. Then round off the ends to create the wings.
  6. Push the red wing shape through the first two slits in the tube that you made in step 1.
  7. Repeat steps 5-6, however, this time create a smaller wing shape that is shorter and only one inch wide. Push this strip through the second two slits that you made in step 1.
  8. Cut a slit about half an inch long into the top of the back of the cardboard tube. Then cut a triangle shape out of red card, with one curved edge, and cut the same size slit into the curved edge at the bottom. Slide the two slits together to create the tail of the plane.
  9. Decorate the Plane with stars either made from card or felt tip pens.

Top Tip

Don't fold the split pin too tight if you want the propeller to spin.
