How to Make
- Draw a 15cm diameter circle onto the back (the white side) of a large paper plate, leaving a 4cm around the edges. Draw the circle with a compass or draw around a 15cm bowl. Cut out the circle by cutting in from the edge of the plate then around the outline to make a hole in the middle of the plate. Stick a piece of masking tape over the join. Paint black and leave to dry.
- Place a paper doily onto a piece of scrap paper then dab black paint over the surface with a sponge. Carefully lift up the doily and place it onto another piece of paper to dry.
- Fold the painted doily in half then in half again into quarters, fold over again then cut out a piece from the middle, following the scalloped shape. Open out the doily.
- Place the doily onto your work surface with the black side facing down then brush glue around the edge. Turn the doily back over and press it onto the circular border to cover the hole in the middle.
- Use a hole punch to make more patterns around the edge, or leave the border solid black if you prefer.
- Peel off the backing paper from one side of an A4 self-adhesive sheet. Place the backing paper onto your work surface and tape it down as a clean, non-stick surface for making the window. Press the sticky side of the double-sided sheet onto the reverse side of the window. Press it down in the middle and around the border. Trim the self-adhesive sheet around the edge of the circle, leaving the backing sheet in place on top. An A4 self-adhesive sheet should be big enough to almost cover the whole circle. Use the offcuts from the sheet to fill in any gaps.
Top Tip
If there are any small gaps where the doily joins the border, stick small pieces of masking tape onto the back to cover them and touch up with black paint on the front.
