How to Make
- Take an A4 sheet of white card and draw on two same-sized eye shapes, using the picture as a guide.
- Complete the exercise detailed in the learning guide below (so children can witness the way the pupil reacts to different amounts of light).
- Colour in the pupil and iris on each eye, drawing out the pupil in one eye the size it would be when looking at bright light, and the second, how it would react when looking at dim or low light.
- Ask children to label the drawings with the different kind of light that each eye is reacting to. Use this as a basis for discussing why the pupil reacts this way – to let in more or less light – and how the human eye works.
Top Tip
Pre-draw the main eye-shapes onto card before starting the exercise if youre doing it with a large group, to make it easier
