How to Make
- Cut a piece of orange tissue to A4 size and gather it up along the long edge. Uncrease the paper and brush with PVA glue.
- Gather up three pieces of yellow tissue in the same way and stick to the orange piece to create a thick sheet that looks a bit like papyrus. Glue the last piece in place only at the centre of the sheet.
- Make paper string by folding a narrow rectangle of white tissue several times lengthwise and then twisting into a rope. Use this to gather the moist tissue paper in the centre and tie.
- Screw up another piece of tissue into a ball and place under the knot. Spread the moist sheet out either side of the ball and tie underneath to make a head and neck.
- Plait together three long, folded pieces of yellow tissue and tie the ends with paper string. Place the arms under the neck and bind the body with more string before flaring the ends of the damp sheet into a skirt.
- Fold an orange sheet of tissue in half, concertina up and bind the middle with paper string. Fan the sides out to make wings and glue to the back of the corn angel. Leave to dry.
Top Tip
Tissue paper can be quite easy to tear when moist so don't be too heavy handed when forming the angel. When the PVA dries, however, the paper will be very durable.
