Time to Make

1 hour + drying time for glue

How to Make

  1. Tape 2 craft wreaths together with sticky tape. Tear some strips of orange and yellow tissue paper so there are enough to cover the wreath.
  2. Paste the tissue strips over the wreath. Fold the ends over the side and the middle onto the back, then paste them down.
  3. While the glue is still tacky, place a 28cm square of organza ribbon over the whole wreath and leave it to dry. Cut into the middle of the organza and around the edges into strips. Fold the strips of organza onto the back of the wreath and stick them down with glue or tape.
  4. To make the flowers, cut 10 x ribbon strips x 5cm in length and 10 x ribbon strips x 8cm in length. Use 10mm wide ribbon.
  5. Start by folding over one of the 8cm ribbons into a loop Sew a stitch where the ends meet using a needle threaded with a double thickness and a knot at the end. Continue stitching the remaining ribbon strips in the same way, one at a time so they are next to each other in a line. Keep the needle and thread attached, then spread the loops to form a flower. Add a stitch in the middle to hold the shape.
  6. Make another flower in the same way using the shorter ribbon strips to make a smaller flower, then sew it onto the larger flower with gold and silver beads in the middle.
  7. Attach the flowers onto the wreath with strong glue or sticky pads. Tie a piece of wide ribbon around the wreath to hang it up.

Top Tip

Experiment with different widths of ribbon for making different sized flowers. 15mm wide ribbon makes larger bolder flowers. 5mm wide is ideal for tiny delicate flowers.
