How to Make

  1. To make a silhouette card design, paint some mini wooden nativity shapes with black paint using a small brush. Leave to dry.
Or, for colourful nativity figures use a small paintbrush to fill in the faces, clothing and other details with acrylic paints. Leave to dry.
  2. Choose 2 or 3 coloured inks for the backgrounds. Pour a small amount of each colour into a mixing tray. Brush clean water over a piece of white A4 card, before the paper dries quickly brush the inks one at a time using a brush (size 10 or bigger) across the card in stripes so the colours blend together. Leave to dry. Try making a selection of backgrounds using different colours.
  3. Cut the backgrounds into small rectangles or squares then glue the painted wooden shapes on top. Cut thin strips or shapes from black card or use coloured off-cuts from the backgrounds to make other shapes, like the stable.
  4. Glue the finished pictures onto folded cards with glitter stars.

Top Tip

If possible, use a separate brush for each ink colour. This makes it quicker to work on the wet paper and means you won’t have to wash the brush after each colour.
