How to Make
- Fold a piece of A4 white card in half then draw half a simple mosque outline shape with half a dome in the middle. Cut around the outline then open the card.
- Cut strips of patterned paper to cover the cut-out mosque shape. Start by sticking bigger pieces over the main section and the dome. Trim off any overhanging pieces.
- Cut out 2 matching minaret towers from patterned paper then stick them in place on either side of the dome. Cut thin paper strips to decorate the mosque using a combination of patterns, plain colours and glitter card.
- Glue the mosque in the middle of black A3 card. Cut out a moon from glitter card then stick it on top of the dome.
- To make a border, cut out 14-15 patterned paper strips, 2-3cm x 12cm. Stick the strips around the edge of the background into a continuous pattern with the ends overlapping. Or design a different border if you prefer.
- Stick small glitter stars onto the background.
Top Tip
Select patterned papers with rich colours and repeat elements to reflect the decorative style of Islamic art.
