How to Make

  1. Using the template, cut out 14 pennant pieces in hessian. Use the overlocked edge on the hessian for the top of the pennant.
  2. Fold over the top edge of the pennant (as marked on template) and pin down.
  3. Transfer the template letters onto red felt & cut out.
  4. Glue the letters onto the pennants. Ensure they are centrally positioned. Allow the glue to dry.
  5. Sew the jingle bells at the pennant point. Ensure you secure well.
  6. Paint 12 wooden snowflakes in gold metallic acrylic paint and allow to dry.
  7. Take the pennants and at the folded end machine sew a channel for the twine.
  8. Cut two pieces of twine, one at 1m and the other at 1.2m.
  9. Feed the 1m twine through the MERRY pennants and the other twine through the CHRISTMAS pennants. Space the pennants out evenly.
  10. In between each pennant place a painted snowflake. Again, make sure they are evenly spaced with the pennants. Run a bead of glue along the back of the snowflake (horizontally) and stick onto the twine. Hold a little to fix and carry on with the other snowflakes in the same way. Allow the glue to dry well.
  11. Take the left side ends of both lengths of twine, loop and tie a knot. Cut off extra ends. Do the same for the right side. The garland is ready to hang.

Top Tip

As the hessian is an open weave, when sewing the jingle bells, pull the needle through a weave so that the knot on your thread has somewhere to hold. Stitch once, for extra security before stitching on the bell. Always secure with a knot.
